Thanks Rob. I know that steak knives should not go into the dishwasher/you are right. They need to be washed by hand. It turns out that there are no USA manufacturers of stainless steel flatware since 2005.
It's all made in China and rusts. If anyone knows what won't rust in spotswood water, please let me know. I can't handwash utensils forever.
