This has been an interesting string to read. At this time it is hard to count on anything with the project on Ford Ave. As we all know there have been many empty promises made and nothing is settled as to what will be built, when it will be built or who will actually build it. The need for this building has been here for many years and we have done our best to make due with what we currently use. There comes a time when you can just do no more.
There has been a lot of misinformation discussed around town and in other forums. I am the Fire Chief and very intimate with the project so I am willing to meet with anyone to discuss this project including arranging tours for anyone that wishes to see the buildings.
Understand that the only thing that has been done at this time is the hiring of an architect. They are currently working on the needs we have expressed along with the requirements for the agencies that govern these types of projects. Once this process has been completed it will be presented for the public to see and comment. There have been comments made that there have been secret meetings which is totally false. There have been meeting amongst the firemen to discuss what needs we have so we could express them to the architect for his inclusion to the drawings.
Please understand that all the firemen in this town are taxpayers as well and we do not wish to see our taxes rise however; we do ask that we have a building that will meet our needs. That is the all we ask no more and no less.
