Actually I was diagnosed with cancer and in the hospital when the bill was due. No, I am not a freeloader …. But if you did want to pay some of my bills…… Especially the mounting medical bills – I would accept. As to the water bill, it was paid in full on the day I arrived home and saw the notice.
My point mostly is that the Village of Winnebago needs to pass laws that are in compliance with established Illinois law. The Village can not and should not be a law unto itself.
Further, I was distressed when I found the information regarding Illinois law vs. the Village of Winnebago ordinance because frankly, the Village of Winnebago pays a lot of money – our tax money to have an attorney handling these type issues.
So, no my checking out the law wasn’t just sour grapes over an unpaid bill. But again, if you would like to help with my medical bills, please feel free to contact me. :-)
